Fire crews in Central Texas are gearing up for potential wildfires as drought continues to plague the state, an article published on February 27 on kxan.com stated.
According to reports, at least 75 fire crews in Pflugerville underwent training during which their communication skills were honed by Captain Bobby Ortiz to reduce the risk of sustaining injuries while battling fires. Ortiz, who has been educating fire crews for seven years, boasted that they train regularly.
Pflugerville fire crews reportedly were unable to help with the Bastrop County fire in 2011 because they were also fighting a fire in their area in which at least 300 acres were ravaged by fire and hundreds of residents displaced.
