A new group of firefighters were deployed to contain a large wildfire in Burke County on Wednesday, November 20, according to a report from charlotteobserver.com.
According to the U.S. Forest Service, a new set of firefighters were needed in battling the wildfire in Pisgah National Forest in Linville Gorge, which is now 40 percent contained, to replenish the exhausted fire crews. Spokeswoman Deborah Walker stated that firefighters made a containment line on the south part at least two miles away from the fire to prevent the fire from spreading. The wildfire that started on November 11 has already ravaged 2,481 acres, but no properties or injuries have been reported yet.
