Thousands of properties in San Diego County have a high possibility of being damaged by wildfire, according to a report on Thursday, October 10.
In the recent Wildfire Hazard Risk Report released by CoreLogic, at least 16,000 homes in San Diego County can be damaged by wildfire, with the most prone properties being located in Julian, Alpine, and Ramona. CoreLogic senior hazard scientist Thomas Jeffrey said the wildfire-risk properties involve homes that can be reached by wind-blown embers. He also stated that the risk is increased due to people opting to build homes on the mountainous and brushy areas.
Several years ago, San Diego was struck by two huge wildfires that burned more than 3,000 homes and killed at least 25 persons.
Sadly, a lot of properties were also destroyed in the Bastrop County wildfire two years ago. Unfortunately, many of these home and property owners are facing additional frustrations in trying to get money from their insurance companies.
