Wildfire precaution tips were recently provided by a Wildland Urban Interface Specialist with the A&M Forest Service Program as the second year anniversary of Bastrop wildfire nears, a report said on Monday, August 12.
Specialist Will Boettner encouraged residents to have some sort of space between their home and vegetation. Residents are also advised to clean rain gutters and pine needles that may potentially catch fire in the event of a wildfire. Additionally, according to Bastrop County Emergency Management Coordinator Mike Fisher, firefighters need to work on decreasing conditions that can contribute to a fire.
