After last year’s busy wildfire season, many Texans want predictions on how this year’s summer and fall will look in terms of fire hazards. Wildfires that occur in June are usually a good indication of what the future will bring.
The Texas Forest Service (TFS) calls June a “make or break” month. If the state doesn’t receive adequate rainfall during this month, the TFS predicts another summer affected by severe fires.
The TFS continues to promote controlled burns, even after one in late May got a slightly out of control after reaching 56 bales of hay. The TFS urges residents to take steps to protect their homes from potential wildfires.
