The newly-established Texas Wildfire Prevention Task Force had its first meeting Wednesday, where it discussed ways to prevent further wildfire catastrophes like last summer’s Bastrop county wildfire.
The task force, headed by Texas Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples, concluded that one of the best ways to prevent wildfires is to hold controlled burns throughout the year to get rid of dry brush, dead leaves, and other vegetation that could potentially fuel a wildfire.
The president of the Prescribed Burn Alliance of Texas, Larry Doherty, says that such burns can be a fun community event. He has participated in over 20 controlled burns himself.
The fires that ravaged much of Bastrop county last summer left many people without homes. If you lost valuables in the Bastrop fires, and your insurance company is not fulfilling its responsibilities, contact the Bastrop county wildfires insurance claims lawyers of Williams Kherkher at 800-639-8460.
