Thanks to Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples, dozens of ranchers and farmers have received $1,000 vouchers for McCoy’s Building Supply to help rebuild fences through the Texas Department of Agriculture’s State of Texas Agriculture Relief (STAR) Fund.
An estimated 6,200 miles of fencing was destroyed when the wildfires ravaged Bastrop last summer. Staples and employees of the Department of Agriculture also help the farmers and ranchers rebuild the fences.
The STAR Fund was made possible through private donations as well as from companies like Valero, McCoy’s Building Supply, and Farm Credit. About $70,000 from the fund has gone to ranchers and farmers. The STAR Fund does more than help repair fencing, it also helps restore operations and pay for other agricultural relief.
