Three months after the worst wildfire in Central Texas history, some areas that were damaged heavily still remain charred as the former residents decided whether to rebuild in Bastrop or move to other areas.
The fire left nearly 5,000 people without homes after 1,673 homes were destroyed in the blaze. Some parts of town are quickly rebuilding, while others have had little recovery because the former residents have moved away or are considering to.
People that lost their homes, nearly 7 percent of those who live in the area, either bought vacation homes, moved in with friends or are renting while they decide what to do next. Some residents in the area have stated that they do not want to live in Bastrop anymore because of the horrifying memories of the fire.
