Officials in Bastrop County are wanting to boost economic development in the area in order to generate revenue and rebuild the city that was devastated by the wildfire three months ago.
The Chamber of Commerce is hoping to help businesses in the area grow and receive money from retail in order to bounce back from the wildfire damage.
Nealy 1,600 homes were destroyed in the fire and its damage had negative effects on nearly 48 businesses. In order to help these businesses get back on track, officials are hoping to spread the word that the city is still open for business.
