ABC’s “Extreme Home Makeover” is in Bastrop this week to build a home for a volunteer firefighter who lost her home in the Bastrop County wildfires.
The woman, her husband, her daughter, and her 8-year old twin boys have been living in the guest house of another volunteer firefighter in Smithville. The family works as subsistence farmers and was planning on moving back to their 7-acre property, into a 8 foot by 20 foot shed.
Several “Extreme Home Makeover” workers and volunteers will work together to build the family a 2,500-square foot home in 4 and a half days. A Bastrop homebuilder, EFC Custom Homes, is also helping in the effort.
