Bastrop County Commissioners have recently voted to end the burn ban in the county. The decision was made to lift the ban that has been in affect since April, after recent rainfall occurred in the area.
Property owners are now allowed to have fires outdoors, but officials are still urging that they be careful when doing so. A volunteer fire fighter in Elgin stated that it is a good idea to inform the fire department if you are going to light a fire so that they will keep an extra eye out on the area.
