The St. Edward’s University community is continuing show support for those who lost their homes and possessions in the Bastrop fires that occurred Labor Day weekend.
As of this week, St. Edward’s has raised nearly $471.47 in order to put toward the rebuilding of homes that were lost. Beyond money, food and other products such as granola bars, water bottles, and peanut butter, were all donated toward the effort. In early October, 10 students were on a retreat to help two families clean up debris that was left from the wildfire.
Another 35 students and teachers helped cleaned debris in the wildfire damaged area as a part of a service project that occurred on October 22. In the month of November, members of the community continue to offer their services.
