Home builders near Bastrop County are seeing the huge increase in activity while homeowners who lost their home in the fire decide if they will rebuild or move.
One Smithville builder has stated that he has already received 18 calls to rebuild homes, which is already double the figure of new homes for the month. Of these homes, half are rebuilding in the burn zone area and the others are moving to other areas in Bastrop County. The company has said that they will need to hire more people and that they will be working seven days a week.
Another company has started construction on 20 homes already and sold eight already-built homes. A bad situation has been shown some light, by creating jobs in the area. Officials have said that the new jobs will be good for the area because 42 percent of population commutes to Austin to work.
