Another fire last week in Bastrop County burned nearly 1,000 acres. When firefighters had the fire 25 percent contained, they announced that no homes were destroyed and there were no injuries.
Nearly 50 homes were evacuated and evacuees were held at the Celebration Community Church. Even though the flames spread quickly across the county, firefighters were able to keep them more under control.
A spokesperson for the Texas Forest Service said that because there were less fires in the central Texas area, the aviation supplies were able to respond to this fire more quickly, making it easier to stop the spread of the flames. Nearly 95 percent of Texas is still in a drought at this time.
