Rusty Tolliver, a 25 year-old Bastrop native has organized a seven-day, long distance charity run to raise money for those effected by the wildfires.
The Bastrop High School graduate was volunteering at the middle school when he came up with the idea to use his passion for running to give back to his hometown. Tolliver, a cross country and track athlete in high school, also ran over 2,000 miles last year to raise money for Young Texans Against Cancer, British Heart Foundation, and Help 4 Heroes.
Tolliver has plans to run over fifty miles in just the first two days of his excursion. He will pass the neighborhood where he was raised and where his parents’ house once stood. Donations for “Rusty Runs Bastrop” are accepted at the First National Bank in Bastrop.
